Group 1

  • Decided on the new colour and layout of new SURGe leaflet. The Voices 4 Choices design was followed.

Group 2

  • Went in to the computer suite and accessed many websites. Some were difficult to navigate. Birmingham and Hampshire websites were easy to use.

Group 3

  • Discussed about which other support or groups SURGe members used or attended.

Katharine explained where SURGe fits into SP Services:

Supporting People Team - Core Strategy Group (SURGe)-Commissioning Body.

Voices 4 Choices will be trying to get as many Service Users to go to the Core Strategy Group and Commissioning Body meetings.  There are 4 service user places available for the Core Strategy Group meetings.

CSG Update (From Lisa)

  • We discussed and voted new chair - Nick Cadd
  • Children's Support in Warwickshire
  • Audit-Skills: Jargon Buster Easy Read
  • Move on - Better move on procedure
  • You can leave meetings if they are getting too much for you
  • We discuss commissioning and de-commissioning services
  • If you like meetings and getting involved this is good opportunity

Katharine - Core Strategy Group - update

V4C have now changed SURGe meeting dates to allow better feed back to be taken to Core Strategy Group.

BME Report  - need more BME Service Users - Targeted Social Workers with presentations. Making sure SU have access (steps etc) into building where services are available.

Will be discussing which groups getting funding first.

It would be a good idea for SURGe to ask- what can we do for this (consultations etc.)? What would you like us to do?

Consultation:

  • Worry that many Service Users do not have a support plan.
  • Paper survey favoured

Bromford Tent, Lunch from around the world, Marie and Bernie attended this Cultural Diversity event.

Any Other Business

Tricia explained the new design of the SURGe leaflet, chosen by SURGe members.  The new leaflet will be ready for distribution in about 2 weeks.
